The Archbishop Mitty Monarchs will head out to challenge the Salinas Cowboys at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Archbishop Mitty comes in on seven and Salinas on 11.
Archbishop Mitty barely beat Los Gatos the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Wildcats on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kyleigh Mace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Makayla (MJ) Fikes was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. Olivia Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Archbishop Mitty hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Salinas earned a 7-3 win over Pacific Grove on Thursday.
Salinas also got a great performance from Jaslynn Jimenez as she pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
At the plate, Salinas let Kianna Campbell and Cameron Guzman run wild. Campbell went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Guzman went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Archbishop Mitty's record is now 9-1. As for Salinas, their record now sits at 8-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Archbishop Mitty has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Salinas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Archbishop Mitty beat Salinas 3-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Do the Monarchs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cowboys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
