The Triad Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against West Liberty-Salem, falling 61-30. Triad was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.
Despite the loss, Triad still got an impressive performance from Abbey Overfield, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Triad struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
West Liberty-Salem's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chaley Wade, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Lilly Weaver was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Triad's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-5. As for West Liberty-Salem, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Triad will take on Madison Plains in a holiday battle at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday at. As for West Liberty-Salem, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenon at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Greenon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 475th, while West Liberty-Salem is ranked 177th).
