In what's become a running theme this season, the Discovery Spartans gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 88-30 victory over Ridgeview Global Studies Academy at home. The victory was nothing new for Discovery as they're now sitting on four straight.
Discovery's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trevin West, who scored 18 points along with four steals. West continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Malcom Smith, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five steals.
Despite the loss, Ridgeview Global Studies Academy still got an impressive performance from Chrsitian Sanchez, who scored nine points.
Discovery's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.4 points per game. As for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery will square off against Poinciana at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridgeview Global Studies Academy on the road again on Monday and play against Four Corners at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. One thing working in Four Corners' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
