Fort Stockton has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Andrews Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fort Stockton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Fort Stockton posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 52-31 margin over Monahans. The win was just what Fort Stockton needed coming off of a 97-24 loss in their prior game.
Fort Stockton found their leader in underclassman Victoria Maldonado, who scored 17 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maldonado has scored all season. Amaya Urias was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Andrews beat Pecos 32-19 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Andrews.
Fort Stockton's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-11. As for Andrews, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-16 record this season.
Fort Stockton came up short against Andrews in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 39-35. Can Fort Stockton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
