After flying high against the South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers on Tuesday, the Trinity Titans came back down to earth. Trinity was dealt a 54-22 loss at the hands of South Bend Clay on Thursday. Trinity has not had much luck with South Bend Clay recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natalie Gabrielse, who scored 5 points. Another player making a difference was Ava Tormey, who scored 5 points along with 9 rebounds.
South Bend Clay was led to victory by Delilah Castaneda and Tyrece Cunningham. Castaneda scored 16 points along with 6 steals, while Cunningham dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Castaneda has scored at least 25% of South Bend Clay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliya Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The last time Trinity won on the road was back two weeks ago. Having now lost three straight away contests, they've bumped their record down to 2-7. As for South Bend Clay, their victory bumped their record up to 1-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity's road trip will continue as they head out to face Heritage Christian at 1:00 p.m. on December 2nd. As for South Bend Clay, they will face off against LaVille at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
