The Crest Chargers can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 56-26 victory over Ashbrook. Given Crest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Ashbrook is ranked 438th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crest was led to victory by Nevaeh Blackwell and Monica Surratt. Blackwell scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Surratt scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Blackwell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. De'kaylia Davis was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Despite the defeat, Ashbrook saw an underclassman step up: Arianna Mcdowell scored five points along with ten rebounds. Mcdowell hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 15 straight games.
Ashbrook struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Crest racked up 16 assists.
Crest's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Ashbrook, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Crest will head out on the road to square off against Stuart W. Cramer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stuart W. Cramer will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Crest surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ashbrook, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Forestview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ashbrook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
