The Independence Home School Lions came tearing into Friday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Varsity Opponent and snuck past 49-46. That's another feather in the cap for Independence Home School, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Independence Home School can attribute much of their success to Joe Young, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Young, who scored 11 points.
Independence Home School's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 17 of their last 18 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 309-1197-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence Home School will take on Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 524th, while Independence Home School is ranked 220th). As for Varsity Opponent, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Crosspointe Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m.
