Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Tanner Rattlers walked away with it. They secured a 60-56 W over the Blue Devils on Saturday. 60 seems to be a good number for Tanner as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Tanner was led to victory by Skylar Townsend and Matthew Fletcher. Townsend scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Fletcher scored 16 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Fletcher scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyjah Jones, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Tanner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Sulligent, they dropped their record down to 14-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Tanner will square off against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tanner knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Decatur Heritage Christian Academy likes a good challenge. Sulligent does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
