The Lathrop Spartans had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They rang in the new year with a 56-47 victory over Pacheco on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Lathrop, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Lathrop had a senior duo take command as Raymond Carson scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Bobby Cotton scored 12 points along with six rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Carson has scored at least 25% of Lathrop's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reniel Crisostomo, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Lathrop's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Pacheco, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
Lathrop will be playing in front of their home fans against Grace Davis at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Pacheco's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ceres at 7:15 p.m. on January 8th. One thing working in Ceres' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
