3A Region III District 19 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Larry Rose of Fairfield ran for the longest rushing play in 3A Region III District 19 this season against Glen Rose last week. Rose ran for 62 yards on the play and finished with 80 on the day as his team lost to the Tigers.
Groesbeck moved up to 358 from 411 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 40-0 win over Westwood helped the Goats improve their standing.
Fairfield's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Aaron Cain has thrown for 489 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Cooper Cole has 13 catches for 210 yards. Andre Welch leads the league in rushing with 574 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region III District 19 this week will be when Rusk takes on Fairfield. As it stands, the Eagles are in first, while John Bachtel's team is in fourth.
Groesbeck made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,390 from 4,022. The advance stemmed from a 40-0 victory over the Panthers last week.
