Rainier might be getting used to good results now that the squad have seven wins in a row. They got past Amity with less than a touchdown to spare, ending up at 60-54. Yes, you read that final score correctly. Yes, this was football.
Rainier got off to a slow start in their game last week, but they had no such trouble against Amity as they cruised to a 24-point first half. Amity wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 22 to make it 24-22 heading into the break. Rainier were outperformed in the second half 30-32 but had enough points saved up to walk away with the win. They added further sheen to their flawless record, now 7-0. With their first defeat of the season, Amity fell to 6-1.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Rainier will stay at home next week against Willamina at 7:00 PM. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown. As for Amity, they will face off against Clatskanie. Both of those teams have set a high bar for this matchup after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests.
