Southwood has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lewis Cass Kings at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Southwood was able to grind out a solid victory over Peru, taking the game 49-36.
Hali Pershing and Gracie Lambert were among the main playmakers for Southwood as the former scored 13 points along with five rebounds and the latter scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lewis Cass waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Wabash with points to spare, taking the game 44-29. Given Lewis Cass' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Wabash is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-11. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Lewis Cass, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Southwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Lewis Cass when the teams last played back in February of 2016, sneaking past 46-43. Will Southwood repeat their success, or does Lewis Cass have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
