Make it nine blowout wins for the Jefferson Academy Jaguars this season. They took their match on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 58-20 win over Manual. Given Jefferson Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Jefferson Academy to victory were Rylin Chichirico and Elsa Nygren. Chichirico scored 12 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, while Nygren dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Chichirico posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Shal Mathai, who scored eight points.
Jefferson Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Manual, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.
