Upstate Eight - Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
Waubonsie Valley extended the longest winning streak in Upstate Eight - Valley this week by beating Bartlett, 19-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Warriors.
Lake Park moved up to 113 from 145 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lancers climbed the ranks as a result of a 33-29 win over the Lancers.
Aaron Everson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 116 yards as the Hawks lost to Waubonsie Valley.
On the ground, Bartlett's Everson has rushed for 955 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Everson. The Bartlett star has three catches for 21 yards.
Everson of the Tom Meaney's team is only 45 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Paul Murphy's team takes on South Elgin. As it stands, the Warriors are in first, while the Storm are in third.
South Elgin was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Dale Schabert's team triumphed over Metea Valley 28-21.
