After a string of four wins, Edwards County's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Carmi-White County Bulldogs by a score of 5-4. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 5-2.
Jackson Hensley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Hensley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jex Schnepper, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
