Pittsfield let Mia Dejesus and Nevaeh Lopez run wild. Dejesus went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lopez went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave Dejesus a new career-high. Ella Bassi was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pittsfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Minnechaug Regional lost 15-4 to Westfield on Wednesday. The Falcons have struggled against the Bombers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Veronica Ouimet made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Pittsfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Minnechaug Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Minnechaug Regional's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pittsfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Minnechaug Regional, though, as they've been averaging 12.8 hits. Given Pittsfield's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.
Pittsfield took their win against Minnechaug Regional in their previous matchup on Monday by a conclusive 14-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
