The Hempfield Black Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Cocalico Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hempfield will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.
Hempfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against J.P. McCaskey on Monday as they made off with a 17-6 win. Considering the Black Knights have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alex Wimmer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hempfield got a massive performance out of Camden Hulock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Hulock has posted since back in March of 2025. Logan Dougherty was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Hempfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Cocalico hadn't beaten Garden Spot on the road since April 12, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Spartans.
The team relied heavily on Logan Horning, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Hoffert, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Hempfield's record is now 16-3. As for Cocalico, their record now sits at 4-13.
Hempfield's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Black Knights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cocalico, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Hempfield continue to outrun the ball?
