The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders will take on the Hamden Hall Country Day Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Gibbons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Hamden Hall Country Day's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Cardinal Gibbons took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Wake County HomeSchool as Cardinal Gibbons made off with a 7-1 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Crusaders have posted against the Warriors since May 5, 2021.
Cam Tarkenton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Cardinal Gibbons is undefeated when Tarkenton allowstwo or fewer hits, but 0-4 otherwise. Tarkenton was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Fitzsimmons, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Richards, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Hamden Hall Country Day came tearing into Wednesday's game with 13 straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Bengals.
Jey Scanlon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Billy Cole was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Hamden Hall Country Day's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.2 runs. As for Cardinal Gibbons, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
