The Mooresville Pioneers will take on the Franklin Central Flashes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mooresville lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Terre Haute North Vigo, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Pioneers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Patriots a 9-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Reagan Bauer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tatum Humphrey, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie Pierini, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Franklin Central faced Hamilton Southeastern in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Flashes walked away with a 6-1 win over the Royals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flashes.
Like Mooresville, Franklin Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Kiley Renick. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Renick was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Renick wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Franklin Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mooresville's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 17-11. As for Franklin Central, their record is now 17-9.
Mooresville was able to grind out a solid win over Franklin Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2018, winning 5-0. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flashes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
