The New Riegel Blue Jackets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They secured a 50-46 W over Gibsonburg. That's another feather in the cap for New Riegel, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Gibsonburg's loss came despite strong showings from Reece Walby and Sam Mcewan. Walby scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Mcewan scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Hall, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
New Riegel's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Gibsonburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
New Riegel will be home for the holidays to greet Hopewell-Loudon at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Gibsonburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Old Fort at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Old Fort's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
