The Battle Mountain Huskies suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 75-18 loss at the hands of Fruita Monument. Battle Mountain has struggled against Fruita Monument recently, as their match on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Battle Mountain got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Ashley Rodriguez and
Izzy Kovacik, who each put up six points.
Isabella Zastrow held things down on the boards with five rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Battle Mountain bumped their record down to 4-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Fruita Monument, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Battle Mountain will take on Eagle Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Eagle Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Saturday. As for Fruita Monument, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Montrose at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Montrose is ranked 48th, while Fruita Monument is ranked 29th).
