Cumberland Valley (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) jumped out to an early lead against
Carlisle (Pa.) and never looked back on the way to a 40-24 victory on Saturday.
The Eagles put up 13 points in the opening frame. Cumberland Valley scored on a
Jeremy Salmon touchdown run and a
Ben Fernback touchdown pass to Salmon.
CV was up 34-6 at the half after taking the lead on a Fernback touchdown pass to Salmon in the first quarter.
The Mechanicsburg school saw its 28-point halftime lead fall to 16 entering the fourth.
Deonte Ramsey played well for the Thundering Herd. The sophomore wide receiver caught two touchdowns.
The Eagles' most effective player was Salmon. The senior ran for three touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 14 touchdowns on the season.
Cumberland Valley also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 42-7.
With the win CV extended its winning streak to three games.
Carlisle (0-6) will play a Mid-Penn - Commonwealth game against Chambersburg next week, while Cumberland Valley (5-1) will take on Mifflin County also in a Mid-Penn - Commonwealth game.
