The Gobles Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Bangor Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Gobles gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Climax-Scotts 12-1. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on ten straight.

Daisy Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kylee Killeen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Makenna Hunt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Gobles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .513 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bangor hadn't done well against Hartford recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 20-7 margin over the Huskies. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won six contests in a row.
Like Gobles, Bangor also got a great game from a two-way player: Carley McCoy. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts McCoy has posted over her last four games. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Alexis Wisniewski was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kazi Davis, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI and two runs.
Bangor's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Gobles, their record now sits at 16-2.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Gobles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .529. However, it's not like Bangor struggles in that department as they've averaged .505. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gobles took their win against Bangor when the teams last played back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 16-3 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
