The Paxton Bobcats fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Ariton Purple Cats on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Purple Cats by a score of 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Paxton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sawyer Adams, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Adams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Noah Morgan was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds.
Paxton's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Ariton, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Paxton will head out on the road to face off against Ponce De Leon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ariton will be home for the holidays to greet Zion Chapel at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Zion Chapel presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ariton in Alabama (Zion Chapel is ranked 104th, while Ariton is ranked 224th).
