Two dominant guards in Deondre Weathers and Connor Loy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Campbellsville Eagles are on the road again on Friday and plays the Adair County Indians at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Campbellsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Campbellsville was the victim of a rough 74-52 loss at the hands of the Cardinals.
Despite their loss, Campbellsville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keondre Weathers, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Landon Colvin, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Adair County entered their tilt with the Hawks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Adair County walked away with a 72-61 victory over the Hawks on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adair County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Loy, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Loy has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. Isaiah Cochran was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Campbellsville's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Adair County, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Campbellsville have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Adair County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Campbellsville might still be hurting after the 92-66 loss they got from the Indians when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Campbellsville was down 53-31.
