The Reno Huskies are taking a road trip to square off against the Bishop Manogue Miners at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Reno has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 28.
Reno came up short against Damonte Ranch on Saturday, falling 14-2.
Aaralynn Correa was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue faced Galena in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Miners never let the Grizzlies get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Miners, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kaylee Sanchez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Sanchez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Sammi Boggs looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Lexi Bonanno was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Loralei Hysell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Bishop Manogue hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 13 consecutive matchups.
Bishop Manogue has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Reno, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-21-1.
Reno suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Bishop Manogue in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
