The Lone Peak Knights can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They breezed by Skyridge on the road to the tune of 81-19. Winning may never get old, but Lone Peak sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Lone Peak's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shawnee Nordstrom led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven assists and two steals. Nordstrom hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Naia Tanuvasa, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Skyridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jada Smith. Despite the final result, she scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Skyridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lone Peak racked up 24 assists.
Lone Peak's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.6 points. As for Skyridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lone Peak will square off against American Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lone Peak focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Skyridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Lehi at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lehi has three straight victories, Skyridge has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
