The Treutlen Vikings suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 60-29 loss at the hands of Hawkinsville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Treutlen has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Treutlen lost, one person who can't be blamed is ShaCaria Jackson. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points. That was a full 62.1% of Treutlen's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hawkinsville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sequoyah Whitehead out in front who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitehead has scored all season. Karia Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Treutlen's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Hawkinsville, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Treutlen will challenge Dooly County at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dooly County has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16. As for Hawkinsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilcox County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wilcox County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hawkinsville in Georgia (Wilcox County is ranked 105th, while Hawkinsville is ranked 324th).
