The Bishop LeBlond Eagles have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were the victim of a rough 61-38 defeat at the hands of Meadville on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bishop LeBlond of the 49-43 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Leading Meadville to victory were Madison Carvajal and Korrie Holcer. Carvajal scored 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Holcer scored 22 points along with six steals. Holcer is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Bartz, who scored two points along with five assists and four steals.
Bishop LeBlond's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Meadville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop LeBlond won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Cameron will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Eagles are ranked 40th). As for Meadville, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. La Plata is on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Eagles a 20-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
