Berkeley let Mia Kaufman and Camil Babij Ross run wild. Kaufman went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Babij Ross went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Kaufman a new career-high. Hannah Sumner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Berkeley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloverdale only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Alhambra hadn't done well against College Park recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Falcons. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Falcons on their field since May 4, 2023.
Willa Adler made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Brady, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Angelina Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Berkeley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Alhambra, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.
Berkeley came out on top in a nail-biter against Alhambra in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
