Fulton extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-15. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coleman Comets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Tuesday.
Reagan Weaver was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent over her last six games. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Dayten Lambert made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Kerrigan Ryan, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
As for Coleman, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
Like Fulton, Coleman also got a great game from a two-way player: Kendall Allen. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Allen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Klaira Sysak, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Kyleigh Baker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fulton will face off against Perry at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Coleman, they will challenge Benzie Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
