Basketball Recap: Jasper Comes Up Short

If Jasper was feeling good fresh off their 68-31 takedown of Hemphill last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jasper Bulldogs took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evadale Rebels. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Evadale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Warren Brewer, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Brewer's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Hubbard, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jasper fell to 3-1. As for Evadale, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Jasper wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-44 defeat against Sabine Pass on the 12th. Evadale has also already played their next game, a 60-58 loss against Orangefield on the 13th.
