Beyer moved up to 532 from 572 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Modesto Metro. The Patriots were able to make the jump by beating Davis 52-13.
Downey extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Gregori, 52-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Knights.
Downey's dynamic duo of Aaron Zwahlen and Richard Lopez proved tough for Gregori to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Zwahlen threw for 221 yards and five touchdowns and Lopez had 102 yards receiving. Juan Vaa-Ayala helped Downey's passing attack out by catching four balls for 90 yards.
Aden Ruiz was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 150 yards as Beyer defeated Jason McCoy's team. Maury Moore also contributed to the rushing game with 109 yards on the ground.
Tyler Knobel made the biggest impact on defense this week as Enochs topped Johansen. The 6-foot-3 senior grabbed two sacks.
Shawn Munoz provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles bested the Vikings. He completed three passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 103 yards. Munoz's favorite target this week was Efrem Grimes, who caught one pass for 68 yards.
The Knights' Zwahlen and Lopez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Modesto Metro in both passing and receiving yards. Zwahlen has thrown for 1863 yards this season, while Lopez, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 26 catches for 609 yards. Ruiz from Bill Flesher's team leads the league in rushing with 602 yards.
Downey's Zwahlen is within 137 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Modesto.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Panthers take on the Knights. Modesto is currently in fourth, while Downey is in first.
The Patriots made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,960 from 7,718. The improvement was the result of 52-13 victory over the Spartans last week.
