Makray Goad and Mav Goad stepped up to the plate in a big way. Makray went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Mav went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Grayson County is 8-1 when Mav posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Pennington, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for George Wythe's offense. They came up short against Fort Chiswell on Friday, falling 9-0.
George Wythe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Bralley, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Bralley has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times he's played.
Grayson County's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for George Wythe, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-1.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Grayson County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like George Wythe struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Grayson County's way against George Wythe in their previous matchup back in April, as Grayson County made off with a 15-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
