After a string of four wins, the Altamonte Christian Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 84-61 loss at the hands of Lake Howell. Altamonte Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.
Despite the defeat, Altamonte Christian had strong showings from Ashton Billings, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds, and Ryan Almeda, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Billings has scored all season. Marcus Goss Jr. was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Altamonte Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lake Howell pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Lake Howell was led to victory by Janiel De los santos and Devonn Quailey. De los santos dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists, while Quailey scored 28 points. That's the first time this season that Quailey scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Kaley, who scored 14 points.
Altamonte Christian bumped their record down to 10-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Lake Howell, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Altamonte Christian and Lake Mary Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Mary Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lake Howell, they will be playing at home against Lake Minneola at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
