Basketball Game Preview: Sand Creek Scorpions vs. Mitchell Marauders

Sand Creek is 10-0 against Mitchell since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sand Creek Scorpions will welcome the Mitchell Marauders at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Sand Creek's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Mitchell has been banged up by 17 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for Sand Creek against Elizabeth as the team secured a 77-48 win. The Scorpions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.

Sand Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wuol Chak led the charge by putting up seven points in addition to ten blocks and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Chak a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Brotherns, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mitchell played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-8 defeat at the hands of Falcon. The Marauders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-6.

Noah Romero was Mitchell's leading scorer, having posted four points. Romero also led the team in rebounds with four.

Sand Creek is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Sand Creek hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64 points per game. It's a different story for Mitchell, though, as they've been averaging only 25.8 points. The only thing between Sand Creek and another offensive beatdown is Mitchell. Will they be able to keep them contained?
