Hazelwood East has gone 8-2 against Riverview Gardens recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Timothy Williams Jr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cormex Birdon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. David Graden lll was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Riverview Gardens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Hazelwood East's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Riverview Gardens, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
