King's Academy hasn't had much luck against American Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The King's Academy Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the American Heritage Stallions at 6:30 p.m. King's Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
Last Monday, King's Academy came up short against Palm Beach Central and fell 7-2. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.
King's Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Ceppo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Luke Shelhamer was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, American Heritage never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Santaluces 17-0. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stallions yet this season.
Brady Snow looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
At the plate, Ricky Bellantoni was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Zhao, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double.
American Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
American Heritage pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs over those games. As for King's Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Both King's Academy and American Heritage just can't seem to miss. King's Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like American Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
King's Academy came up short against American Heritage in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 10-7. Will King's Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
