After flying high against the Albemarle School Colts on Friday, the Ocracoke Dolphins came back down to earth. The match between Ocracoke and Croatan wasn't particularly close, with Ocracoke falling 74-59. While losing is never fun, Ocracoke can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Croatan is ranked 44th).
It was another big night for Trey Jones, who scored 26 points for Croatan. The game was Jones' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Woody, who scored 7 points along with 12 rebounds.
Ocracoke's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Croatan, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocracoke will challenge Washington Montessori at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washington Montessori is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Croatan's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Carteret at 8:00 p.m. on December 5th. East Carteret has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 220 points over their last three contests.
