St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.) snapped the five-game winning streak of
DePaul (Wayne, N.J.), with a 38-14 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Spencer Aukamp to
Sherman Alston in the second quarter, the Green Knights led 27-7 at the half.
St. Joseph Regional grew its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. SJR's lone score in the quarter came on a
Ronald Edwards touchdown run.
A big 20-point second quarter helped the Montvale school secure the win. The Green Knights scored on a touchdown pass by Aukamp to Alston, a touchdown run by Alston and a Alston touchdown run in the quarter.
St. Joseph Regional came into the game allowing 12.5 points per game. DePaul's 14 points were well below their season average of 35.4 per game. DePaul came in allowing just 14.0 points per game this season. DHS struggled against St. Joseph Regional's offense, which entered the game scoring 43.0 points per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Montvale school came away with a 48-27 victory.
The loss comes after DePaul defeated Tenafly 54-7 last week.
DePaul (6-2) will play a non-conference game against Wayne Valley next week, while St. Joseph Regional (7-0) will take on Ramapo also in a non-conference game.
