The Lakeland Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Deep Creek Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeland is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Friday, Lakeland had to suffer through a rough 66-6 loss at the hands of Nansemond River. While losing is never fun, Lakeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Nansemond River is ranked 34th).
Meanwhile, Deep Creek was beaten by King's Fork 48-7 on Friday.
Lakeland's loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 King's Fork and 7-2 Granby (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.7% over those games). As for Deep Creek, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.
Lakeland was taken down by Deep Creek 56-16 in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Will Lakeland have more luck at home instead of on the road?
