It's playoff time, and Cedar Park Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the South Whidbey Falcons on Friday as they made off with a 16-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Shelby Southard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Adelaide Foster was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Evoleht Stuhr, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs.
Cedar Park Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Whidbey only posted an OBP of .310.
Cedar Park Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for South Whidbey, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Coincidentally, Cedar Park Christian and South Whidbey will both be playing Granite Falls the next time they take the field. The Falcons will head out to face the Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 12:30 p.m.
