Benton Central and West Lafayette are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Bison will challenge the Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Benton Central put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They blew past Fountain Central 16-6. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Kamron Rider looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Benton Central let Kaydric Tyson and Spencer Flook run wild. Tyson went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Flook went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Tyson a new career-high. Carter Fox also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Benton Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, West Lafayette sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over North Montgomery on Monday.
The team relied heavily on LJ Whitford, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. West Lafayette is undefeated when Whitford posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Korbyn Keen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
West Lafayette has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Benton Central, their record now sits at 4-9.
Benton Central couldn't quite finish off West Lafayette when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
