Jake Vaughan had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 105 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 86 yards and one touchdown. Aidyn Moran helped out on the ground, rushing for 100 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Meanwhile, Avoyelles got the win against Port Barre on Friday by a conclusive 36-14. Considering the Mustangs have won three matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Holy Savior Menard better keep an eye on Kelvin Jones. He was instrumental in Avoyelles' win, rushing for 166 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. Jones' longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Kenterrius Franks also helped out as he racked up 116 rushing yards.
Avoyelles was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 67.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 271.3.
The win got Avoyelles back to even at 3-3. As for Holy Savior Menard, their record now sits at 5-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Holy Savior Menard has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 157.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Avoyelles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Holy Savior Menard was able to grind out a solid victory over Avoyelles in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 8-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
