For Pensacola Christian Academy, this counts as revenge for the 47-43 defeat Pensacola Catholic walked away with the last time they faced one another last Friday.
Pensacola Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madeline Sellars out in front who scored 20 points. Sellars continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Adams, who scored three points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Pensacola Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenecia Swindell, who scored 11 points along with four steals. That was a full 35.5% of Pensacola Catholic's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sophie Burns, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Pensacola Christian Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. As for Pensacola Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pensacola Christian Academy will square off against Northview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pensacola Catholic, Pensacola Catholic and West Florida Baptist Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
