The Buckeye Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Youngker Roughriders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Buckeye is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Canyon View just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Jaguars.
Buckeye saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mayco Morales, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Youngker came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Rattlers get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Roughriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Connor Davis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davis was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jeremiah Garcia was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. David Molina was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Youngker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Youngker's record now sits at 16-9. As for Buckeye, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Buckeye has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Youngker struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Buckeye came up short against Youngker in their previous meeting back in March, falling 6-3. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
