Trillium Academy is 5-0 against the Lakers since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Trillium Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Advanced Tech Academy Lakers at 6:00 p.m. Trillium Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matchups -- so hopefully the Lakers likes a good challenge.
Trillium Academy can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They breezed by Manoogian at home to the tune of 66-22. Given Trillium Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the are ranked 725th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trillium Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sharone Russ led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Russ has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristian Scott, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Advanced Tech Academy came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 win over Michigan Math & Science.
Trillium Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Advanced Tech Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Trillium Academy beat the Lakers 76-67 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Does Trillium Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
