Heartland II recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mount Carmel, who took down 117th ranked Mount Carmel, 41-37.
Luke Klingerman of the RED TORNADOES ran for the longest rushing play in Heartland II this season against Montoursville last week. Klingerman scampered for 68 yards on the play and finished with 362 on the day as his team fell to the Warriors.
Central Columbia's dynamic duo of Jordan Thivierge and Jarrod Flick proved tough for Danville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thivierge threw for 191 yards and one touchdown and Flick had 85 yards receiving. Nathan Hughes helped Central Columbia's passing attack out by catching three balls for 48 yards.
The Bluejays' Thivierge and Flick have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thivierge has thrown for 876 yards this season, while Flick, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 15 catches for 303 yards. Carmen DeFrancesco's team's Klingerman leads the league in rushing yards with 783.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Central Columbia takes on the RED TORNADOES. As it stands, Jason Hippenstiel's team is in first, while Mount Carmel is in fourth.
The Bluejays extended the longest winning streak in Heartland II this week by beating the Ironmen, 21-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
