It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Western Christian had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Bishop Alemany Warriors. Winning may never get old, but the Fighting Lancers sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Kayden Quiroz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aryana Munoz was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Sofia Prentice was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Western Christian pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Bishop Alemany, they moved to 17-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
