The Triton Hawks entered their tilt with the Terry Sanford Bulldogs with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Triton escaped with a win on Tuesday against the Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 60-59. Given Triton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 506th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Triton was led to victory by Ahmad Morris and Romello Pegues. Morris scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Pegues scored 17 points along with three steals. Morris is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for five games straight. Another player making a difference was Will Watson, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Terry Sanford had strong showings from Mason Walker, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds, and Johnathan Higgins-Simmons, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. Gaven Kraut was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Triton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Terry Sanford, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14.
Triton will square off against the Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westover has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,190 points over their last 17 matchups. As for Terry Sanford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pine Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
